Meryl's straight-up my kind of bride. When having to ask her bridesmaids for help in putting on her shoes (it's a tricky feat in a dress like that!), she kept apologizing: "I'm so sorry. I feel like a jerk."

She sure didn't look like one! (How's that for a segue??) Meryl's dress was gorgeous, her hair and makeup were perfect, and I love that she wore her everyday glasses because, as she said, "This is what I look like." Kyle, meanwhile, was so clearly happy this day. It was great to document such an important for them.

The reception, at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, was absolutely beautiful, making for some gorgeous detail photos. And check out those rings! So unique.

The two actually went back to their jobs on Monday, which is hilarious. (Q: So what'd you do this weekend? A: Oh, y'know, watched a couple of movies, got married, the usual.) They're about to hit the Caribbean for their honeymoon, though. Perfect!

As I've been getting settled in South Dakota, Elijah's kept busy in Michigan -- this time with Calan, the gorgeous baby boy of Amanda and Eric. It's been fun to watch him grow so quickly through photos.

As most of you know, AHP has relocated to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It's a fascinating transition as I take on a new post with the Associated Press. I'm looking forward to merging my reporting, photography and editing skills into one gig -- and we'll keep doing weddings as well because we enjoy them too much to give them up.

For my first national AP story, Elijah and I took a road trip to the Badlands National Park for a story about the comeback of the endangered black-footed ferret. Every now and then we take portraits of someone who is more ham than most. Sahil was one of those guys, and it made our senior session with him an absolute blast. He's one of those guys who waves at strangers and can't help but break into a smile when you tell him to be serious for a second.

We shot his images in downtown Plymouth, Mich., from sunset to just past dusk. It's amazing how many backdrops you can find within just a few blocks!

Last year, we shot the happy wedding of the awesome Amanda and Eric. And this year, their family is expanding -- which admittedly makes us feel like ours is expanding a bit, too!

Calan's first photo shoot was actually supposed to be a maternity shoot, but the little guy was a bit impatient and, thus, premature. At two weeks old, he wasn't quite old enough to sit up, but we got some amazing baby shots regardless. More Calan pics are coming because we'll be coming back to Michigan to document his first-year milestones!!
